Hobnob is a social platform designed to help remote employees connect beyond task-based communication. In distributed teams where informal interactions disappear, I focused on shaping an experience that felt warm, lightweight, and human. The challenge was to design connection without adding friction, creating a space that strengthens culture without feeling like another work tool.
INTEREST-DRIVEN CONNECTION
Rather than building around structured onboarding flows, I centered the experience on shared interests. From group discovery to conversational threads, every interaction was designed to lower social friction and encourage organic engagement. The emphasis was on clarity, ease of entry, and making the first interaction feel effortless.
PLAYFUL ENGAGEMENT SYSTEM
Micro interactions and lightweight multiplayer games act as digital icebreakers. I designed these moments to be short, intuitive, and visually inviting, encouraging participation without time pressure. The goal wasn’t gamification for metrics, but play as a catalyst for authentic interaction.
